Dick Vitale...

I personally can't stand the guy and the only reason I watch him is because he always does the big games. His voice is just untolerable, and his "trademark" phrases are beyond lame as well.

Not that I don't respect him for what he means to basketball, but I really wish they'd have someone else do the games.

unlike walton and madden, he brings a real energy to the announce table. you can see how passionate he is about the game.

he (he coached for east rutherford) beated my high school (mountain lakes) for group 1 championships back in early 70s.

screw him.

Passion is all well and good, but I'd bet good money that the man is completely incapable of just shutting the fvck up for 30 seconds. Have you ever watched him when someone else is talking? He looks like he's going to explode from having to stay quiet and most of the time he just butts in.

Dick Vitale is a Duke fan. It's unbarable listening to him cover a Duke game. I can't stand the guy in the first place, so I guess there is that.

His slobbering over ANYTHING Duke does is the worst part of Vitale's commentating. It's just horrible and intolerable for national (i.e. unbiased) broadcasts. Now if he were on The Duke University Channel, then he crap would fly, but on ESPN it's just tiring.

The only thing I like about him is his enthusiasm for the college game.
