Its about time someone in government said it:

Your government failed you. Those entrusted with protecting you failed you. I failed you. We tried hard, but we failed you...I ask for your understanding, and your forgiveness.

Uhm the quote was his opening statement to the 9/11 commision which has nothing to do with CBS.

Remember when the crazy liberals actually believed Wesley Clark was a real candidate? Now there's a new "Clarke", but the story is essentially the same. The liberals are gullible and their collective thought process is ruled by emotion, not logic. It doesn't take a genius to discover Clarke's financial motivations.

Is the new Clark, Clark light? DEMS will fall for anything..... Kerry had a photo op up here in Idaho this past week and DEMS were falling all over him... Kerry stiffed them in the end and did not show up to a thank you for volunteers.... He was at a bar down the street getting tanked...

I heard part of his testimony in front of the "9/11" panel and his interview with Terry Gross. He did not strike me as a "bitter ex-employee" as people have tried to spin him. I found him to be completely credible.

if he is, that does not change the fact the article is real and many of the people there fell that way...unless of course it makes you feel justified in ignoring it.

do you have the same high moral standards for clarke lying? he directly contradicted himself publically...

Clarke did no such thing.

as i said in the other thread, he is directly contradicting himself regardless of "spin" and still says what he said in 02 is true including this:

CLARKE: One of the big problems was that Pakistan at the time was aiding the other side, was aiding the Taliban. And so, this would put, if we started aiding the Northern Alliance against the Taliban, this would have put us directly in opposition to the Pakistani government. These are not easy decisions.

ANGLE: And none of that really changed until we were attacked and then it was ...

CLARKE: No, that's not true. In the spring, the Bush administration changed ? began to change Pakistani policy, um, by a dialogue that said we would be willing to lift sanctions. So we began to offer carrots, which made it possible for the Pakistanis, I think, to begin to realize that they could go down another path, which was to join us and to break away from the Taliban. So that's really how it started.

according to clarke(in '02) bush took clintons plan and not only started on it but added to it BEFORE 911 if these DIRECT statements by clarke are true..even as he now says he did NOT say anything untrue in the 02 interview then the bush administration did more to pursue al queada in 9 months than clinton did in 8 YEARS.

but now he says clinton did more...but oh wait!! both are true and he never lied then or now!

the truth is he did not think what he said then would come back to bite him on the @$$, but it did.

really? did you even listen to the hearings today? or are you just spewing bs. clarke is a REPUBLICAN, he worked under reagan, he votes as a republican. the fact that he thinks clinton had terrorism as a far higher priority then bush is pretty damning. this man works for decades in the government to protect the us and throws it away for a book? doubtful, esp consideing theres good money to be made for writing right wing garbage. he's simply a whistleblower, and the bush administration knows what he says is true, so the desperate scramble to discredit him. they can't even put condi rice up to speak under oath, they have to protect their bed of lies. the bush admin makes their case for reelection on the lie that they are strong on defense, when it could not be futher from the truth. they ignored warning after warning, only caring about tax cuts and vacations. they know this, and its why they delayed clarkes book until now. thats right, he had to turn it in for inspection..and they bogged it down till now to make it look opportunistic.

its amazing how desperate repubs are now trying to pretend he was supposed to speak only for himself in those background briefings. he was the %#@ mouthpiece for the president. amazingly niave when convenient aren't we:p

i did hear the entire hearing today with clarke, he was damn cool under fire, and blew away the allegations against him, and what he said was damning.

Anyone with common sense would know Clarke is telling the truth, otherwise why are they attacking him viciously on FOXnews, on CNN, every broadcast.
