Can't help but wonder what the inside of that cup looks like..the video appears to have been sped up as well.

it's simple, the cup isn't wide enough for two dice to sit side-by-side, so they have to stack up vertically. At the end of each stacking, he moves the cup and stops it abruptly, making sure tha thte dice line up on one edge.
