DiamondMax Plus 8 vs DiamondMax Plus 9

OK i ordered my uncle a new hard drive from newegg. I got hima 40GB DiamondMAX Plus 8. Then after i ordered i looked down and saw a 60GB DiamondMAX plus 9 for $5 more

He doesnt need any more space than 40GB. But I was wondering is there a big performance difference between the 2? Also there any other major differences? I might cancel order and get the diamondmax plus 9 if its much better.
