I just ordered online a mossanite round cut ring & matching earings for my GF for x-mass. But, after surfing the net I stumble across real man made diamond from Diamond Nexus Labs and the price is less than 1/2 of what I'm paying for the mossanite counter part.

Should I cancel the order of the more fire mossanite for real diamond?

Yes.
But don't tell her it is man-made. Unless she asks.

Yes I'm cheap bastard, however I don't believe that diamond should cost the price that it is at the present due to the blood thirst cartel & its marketing.

My GF knows that Moissanite is not diamond, but she have seen it on her co-worker/friend hand & love the shines that it gives.

The also knows that her mom (Chinese) wouldn't a prove of anything other than mine diamond that would cost me between $15,000-20,000 USD. Therefore Nexus man-made/culture diamond is the next best thing that cost less than moissanite (the fire of moissanite often seen on cat-walk models & stars).

$15000 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111111oneoneone :Q

you don't have to buy a Hope Diamond either

i just meant an 'old school woman' will crap on you for even thinking of giving her a fake diamond

if your GF knows it is fake and is ok with that, then there is no problem

Go for the man-made diamond. Tell the GF that you wanted to give her a diamond but you wanted to make sure it wasn't a conflict / blood diamond.

If price alone is what matters, go w/ the real thing (mined).

However, with mined diamonds, price is directly proportional to quality. Lab created diamonds are generally close to the more flawless mined varieties (colorless mined). So if it's about having the nicest stone, the lab can do as well as the mined.

Women like to show it off to their friends, who certainly won't know its synthetic (its diamond, after all, just made under controlled conditions). They'll see a perfect stone, cause it sure won't be stamped "lab made." Yeah a trained jeweler might be able to tell, but who cares? Jewelry is worn to be noticed, not scrutinized, after all, right?

Which matters more? I'd personally be willing to buy a lab diamond as a gift, but I'm not to the point where an engagement ring would work that way. My mind might change later though.

EDIT: I thought moissanite was the lab created diamond, but the OP is asking moissanite vs lab diamond. I have no idea what moissanite is, but the lab diamond is really affordable and supposedly of excellent quality.

Once you've owned real there is no substitute. Doesn't matter if it's a watch, purse, or gem. I suppose you could lie and she wouldn't know but then you're stuck with the guilty conscious and what if she did find out? :Q

I'm a ruby gal myself. After all there's nothing cooler than being able to pump a ruby rod with enough photons that a beam emerges from the end that can pierce metal. :D
