Diamond Speedstar memory woes

I bought a diamond SpeedStar A50 AGP that was supposidly 8 mb, but it only recognizes and shows 4 mb. Running it on a FIC VA503+. Can it be that it is defective? Or did I not configure it right? (have all the drivers). Or was the seller mistaken?

Is there a way to see how much memory there should be by looking on the chips (nothing looked obvious when I did).

Probably defective, I have a SpeedStar A50 8Mb AGP and it works properly in Win98 and Win2K.

Nice OEM card for 2D, but no gaming performance at all. The extra memory is not gonna help ya.
