Large no. of new retail Diamond MX400's up for grabs on UBid.

Starting price was $9.
One bloke tried to get all of them. Price for non-greedy types went to $19.
The price is presently $29+$10 shipping.

Closes today.

Oops. Not retail, but OEM. They just show a pic of the retail box

BTW, here's my take on it:

When one person bids on them all, it is generally a stooge bidder representing either the company offering the merchandise, or possibly even uBid people. I have seen this on dozens of auctions there. Ubid is a scam. They say bidding starts at $7 or $9, but in reality that is just to reel people in and then sucker them into paying far more than they should be paying than if it is an honest auction.

Most bids come in during the last 10 minutes of the auction, lengthening the close time. uBid is a complete scam as I lost 6 straight auctions for a laptop by a $10 bid each time. It was the same laptop, but each time the amount was different. Once it closed at $939, the next day $1239, etc. And all the bids that beat me were submitted within seconds after I placed my bid... Hmmm. Very interesting.

uBid shipping charges are outrageous. Talk about trying to make some extra bucks from shipping. Won't deal with such company.

My suggestion, always check the s/h fee. Products might not be as cheap as you think they would be once you throw in the s/h charges.

Ubid is a freaking scam! I won a subwoofer from them, and they canceled my winning bid because it was too low! Plain and simple scam!!! Stay away.

Used to be, you could get a pretty good deal on Ubid. Now seems like alot more people go there or, like you guys are saying, they jack up the prices with their own people bidding. Too bad, I hate to see that kind of stuff happen.

Can't resist the chance to kick around UBid, the only online auction where I've been cheated. I bought a Dolby Pro (5 channel) system and they sent me a Dolby (4 channel). Refused to answer emails, US mail, or to return voice mail messages!
