Diamond MX300 and Windows 2000 Problem

I have the Diamond MX300 and am running Windows 2000. I get sound, but when I'm playing MP3s it sometimes skips a beat. The drivers I have installed are the Windows 2000 default. I looked on the Vortex site for any potential fixes and tried changing the performance to the max like they suggested. Same problem. Not running a VIA chipset. I have a feeling it's a Windows 2000 issue because everything was fine in ME.

Any suggestions?

use the WDM drivers from vortexofsound...follow the directions provided on the download page pretty much exactly..

if that doesn't work...there's a couple workarounds for via chipset conflicts..check out their forums...tons posted on the topic.

I don't have a VIA chipset. Is it safe to install these drivers anyway and follow the directions? Checked out the forums over there and all the problems seemed to mention the VIA chipset. I remember seeing some posts here but I can't find them now.

Thanks for your help.
