Does anyone know if this is a decent sound card?

I've been having driver issues with my SB Live X-Gamer 5.1 - AMD Athlon XP2100+ w/ Abit KX7-333 and XP Pro SP-1.

The Creative software always says the drivers aren't installed properly.

I looked at the DT-688 and its a 6 channel board, compat w/ EAX and A3D.

I need a sound card for MP3s and video games. I looked at the Audigy and its just a big waste of money for my application. I only have 2 speakers and sensitive ears.
