Dialup networking problem in ME

Trying to fix this machine for a friend. It's a Compaq w/ ME on it.

It dials and connects, gets an IP addy, but you can't ping anything and DNS won't resolve.

I've removed all viruses and spyware, tried installing a different modem, tried connecting to multiple providers, completely removed and reinstalled all networking protocols and DUN.

The networking stuff does act very strange. The TCP/IP doesn't show all the tabs normally present, only three. Not sure if that is normal for it when bound to dial up adapter or not, it's been so long since I've used a modem. Also, if I remove TCP/IP, everything else installed in the network properties disappears immediately.

Any ideas greatly appreciated. I'm about to just reinstall the whole thing.

Thanks,

j

I would try a re-install. Win ME on Compaq hardware is very weird.... Make sure you use the original media so your devices work properly.
