I hope you can help I just finished updating my girlfriends machine and it works great except that it now hangs up on the internet. It'll stay on a few minutes then the modem makes a couple of clicks and it's offline.
The upgrade included a new Asus Moboard it's a P4P800E-Deluxe, A gig worth of corsair DDR Dimm format & A Thermaltake Pure power power supply. The Modem is an Intel 536EP V.92.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks

Do a windows update on the machine or if you can't stay online long enough order SP2 from cd from windows. SP2 holds a ton of updates (both security wise, and driver wise) I'm assuming you're running Windows 2000 or XP. If this dosen't work then look up the driver on the web, download it to cd or something, then install the driver, then put in the modem card.

Hope it works out for you.

Guess I should have mentioned it already has sp2. which I originally thought would be a fix too.

Thanks for the input

If you haven't done this already, go to the manufacturer of the modem and get the latest driver for it. Is Intel the maker of the card, or just the chip on the card? I know my sister's Creative Labs modem got mis-identified as something else and it sure was  about holding a connection too. The proper driver from Creative's site fixed it, though.

Besides that... well... did you install the latest Intel INF Chipset Software package, as they call it? If you need a link, here it is and you want the i865 chipset (duh).

Also, have you given the system a good antivirus and spyware/adware scan?
