Dial Up Plan for Travelers

I am looking for a dial up plan that I can use when I travel, which is not very frequently at all. Basically, I would like something that I can use to check my email and browse the web a little for directions and stuff like that when I am at a hotel. We are talking about a maximum of a few hours every 6 months.

Any suggestions?

If you have DSL or a Cable modem already, some providers give you this feature already. I know that SBC DSL does, and Roadrunner used to. Earthlink does as well, or offers an inexpensive add on for dialup access.

I have Comcast, and I contacted them about this. unfortunatley, they do not provide such a service.

When I used a dialup ISP they offered a plan called iPass that was perfect. You could use iPass anywhere you traveled and paid per hour. Unfortunately, now that I have Verizon as an ISP I can't use that any more.

But i2roam resells iPass service and that might be a solution.

On the other hand, many hotels now offer free high-speed access either through a wired connection or WiFi, so you might not even need to pay if you choose the right hotels.

I wish Verizon Online would provide one for me too. So I use free Netzero dial up instead.

If you are just looking for dialup speeds you might look at a data plan for your cell phone.

Some can use a USB cable with GPRS service or there are more expensive and faster data plans.

Most trips I have taken recently the hotels have had free broadband access though.
