Dial-Up Internet Problem

Hello all:

I have a strange problem that I'll do my best to describe. I'm using Windows 98 SE.

Whenever I access a very slow to respond site (such as www.soundblaster.com), my internet connection will hang. Any other IE windows I have up accessing other sites also freeze. Any attempt to access any site just sit and wait. When I close all IE windows, I get the "Stay connected" or "Disconnect" dialog. I click "Disconnect", and then immediately, a new dial up window (where you type your password) appears. Close than and another one comes up. Usually, two or three of those come up.

It seems like the slow site is completely hogging the Internet connection, and any try to access another site causes the computer to try dialing again.

Does anyone know how to solve this? Is there a registry setting I should tweak (maybe a time-out setting)?

-thanks
