Hello,

I have been trying for the last two hours to get my computers to recognie that Iam wanting to share one of the computers Dial up connection. it does wanna work.

One of the PC's is the host PC and has the modem in it. I have tried wingate but it either tells me that it can't find the server or it won't let me login to my MSn dial up account.

I have also tried Internet Connection Sharing Software by Virtual mortion and that $hit didn't work either.

Do I have to have any special Settings? Like the Ip addresses on the NIC's. I have them set to automatically detect my settings. Do I have to mess with the SunbMask Settings?

Thanks in advance for any replies. DOn't tell me to look in the search option casue I couldn't find $hit :)

Thanks

You could try Proxy+, it's a fairly simple to set up and use proxy server that will allow you to share your connection, and it's free. If you download it and read through the directions, you shouldn't have any problems setting it up. Good luck.:)

IMHO it would be easier just to assign ip addys, and then go from there. I bought winproxy when I was using a phone connection for my dialup.

I believe the vast majority of these types of software use port 80 for HTTP ports.

PM me if you guys want to answer more specific q's.

I thought Win98 and WinME have ICS within it. Maybe I'm wrong. But you should probably try to set ip manually. Then shut down all comps. Start with the newest OS first. Wait for that to boot. When each one boots, wait 2-3 minutes before booting up next.

Analogx is probably the best one I've worked with. Pretty easy interface.

try ICS in windows. it sets it all up for you and it does work with dialup, i tried it once.

if not, use ip 90.0.0.1, subnet 255.255.255.0 for host machine

90.0.0.2, subnet 255.255.255.0 for client

There is a class C IP reserved for private networks, which means that no comps on the public network wil have it, therefore no conflicts. it's 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.0.255

Use windows ICS and set the IP on the host comp to 192.168.0.1 and the other comps should follow suit. Make sure that your subnet is 255.255.255.0 and also that your workgroup name is the same.
