Dial-up in XP pegs my cpu at 100%

I got the xp friver for my zoom 56k usb, but everytime I connect the cpu usage jumps to near 100% and won't ever go down unless I reboot. I can't seem to find a fix, zoom's wevsite is no help. Is there something I should know about XP?

I'm having the exact same problem with my Diamond SupraMax USB v.92 modem, although my CPU usage is around 85% (bad enough). Diamond's website is absolutely useless and I've downloaded every update for Windows XP Pro, have the latest BIOS for my motherboard, latest drivers, everything and I'm still around 85%. If you find out anything, post it here and I'll do the same.
