Dial up connections really stink on this board at night.

God, I can't wait to get DSL or Cable service. Refresh a screen or or click a link and it takes anywhere from 30 seconds to over 2 minutes to load. Even the ISDN connection from work is almost unusable this board gets so much traffic. Anything else on the 'net is ok, just the volume of traffic here bogs my dial up connection to the point it's practically unusable.

After midnight speeds seem to increase dramatically.

Anyone having better luck with either DSL or Cable? How's your performance? Or is it just the servers are overloaded?

Well, i'm on 0.5MB DSL, and the forums were pretty slow earlier (although I guess that was leading upto the 'crash'. 95% of the time they're nice and quick though :)

One node of cable here serves 500 homes. Is that a good ratio? I'm still on a 56k dial up with ICS,but it never seems as slow as what Fathom5 waits for.
I am giving serious thought to satalite with the dish network. I'm too far awy from the CO for DSL.

Try a dial up connection at 26.6, with so much noise and connection problems it ends up being closer to 9600.......SOUTHWESTERN BELL ROCKS MAN!!!!!! sorry, I get a little emotional on that subject.......

I have @Home cable at home, seems slow as dialup here, but fine everwhere else. I don't need to get on a rant about @Home though, just glad I got this 3mb DSL at work and at home in the spring ;)

My cable at home seems a little faster them my Ethernet connection here at work. Still loads plenty fast though. :)

Right now Windows is showing I'm connected at home @ 46,666bps and screen refreshes take antwhere from 3-5 seconds. I think part of the problem also is ISP traffic. This time of day my ISP probably doesn't have many customers logged on.
