Dial up Connection opens by itself, help :-)

I use Earthlink 5.0 software to connect to the net. It supplies its own icon, its called Earthlink 5.0 Sigh-on.

At random, the "other" Dial-up connection opens on its own, with all the Earthlink profile, and password, settings, phone number .
I just rebooted, and after a few moments, it opened again 🙂

How can I remove this, or disable it?

a background program is likely trying to get on the net, such as kazaa (spyware i suppose) or im clients, email clients

anything that uses the net that you have running in the background could cause this

you can go to your network connections folder and edit your internet connection for auto dialing, but you should find out what was installed on your system that may have made this start

could even be an antivirus program looking for updates i guess, but look around
