Dial up access Problems!

I have a Supra 56i and everytime I try to query the modem or dial, it freezes up my machine. I have a Asus P34VX with the 1005 BIOS, a P3/800EB with 512 MB PC133 Reg ECC memory. I am using the latest drivers from diamond's website on Win2K SP1. Any suggestions?

delete the modem, pull it out reinsert it, use microsoft standart drivers
