hi everyone,

for the following components, i've been suggested that these are good diagnostic/test tools:

CPU: prime95
RAM: memtest
HD: manufacturer specific tests
VID: 3dmark

if there are any other good test/diagnostic tools that i have not mentioned, please let me know! it'd be a great help.

also, i know that motherboards are very specific depending on the make and model, but i was wondering if there are any tests that can actually test and isolate problems with your motherboard? thanks a lot!

Not sure about motherboard specific tests, but a good thing to do is try and encode a movie in DivX! There have been computers that pass Prime95 for hours and hours only to fail @ DivX in 30 minutes.

I just found one that seems to work pretty well for giving you lots of information:
Aida32.
