trying to talk my bro through his first system install. MSI mobo, Athlon 64 3000, one HD, one DVD-ROM, ATI something or other video. set to boot from dvd first, with legit windows xp home (oem) cd, "press any key to boot from cd" appears. hits enter, dvd sounds like it's spinning up but nothing else happens. any ideas?

bios recognizes dvd drive, it is known good from his old computer. jumpers appear correct, IDE connections are sound. we tried a DVD-RW drive and got the same result. the only thing I can think of is that it's a bad windows disk.
