Diagnosing intermittent cable modem connectivity errors

We've been having intermittent internet connectivity problems for about a month. My wife works from home via RDC and it keeps kicking her off, and I get the full brunt of her aggravation b/c I'm supposed to magically fix all the computer problems.

It seems to be a provider issue (roadrunner). When it happens, we can connect to the server and other computers behind the router and transfer files, stream video, etc. But no internet connectivity. All of the modem lights seem normal when this is happening, and when I check the signal strenth it seems OK based on what I've read in some articles (SNR hovers around 34dB, upstream signal strength is about 45dBmV).

Are there some additional diags/tests I can do so that I have some kind of documentation to take to the cable company. The intermittent nature of the problem means it's unlikely I'll actually be on the phone with them when it's happening.

TIA.
