Diagnosing blank Compaq C700 screen

Torn Mind

Lifer
It's not the motherboard, as the system boots up fine.

I tried a different motherboard to screen connector, and the screen remains blank although I noticed the LCD "activate". So, is it the inverter board that's messed up?

Are you saying you connected the laptop to an external VGA monitor?

Connect it to an external monitor. If it works then it could be the inverter or the LCD panel thats gone bad. If it does not work with an external monitor then it's most likely the onboard graphics which means bad motherboard even though it boots up.
