diagnose this headache....

ok, I have this really annoying pain that is localized to one area on my head. Every so often (sometimes every minute, sometimes in 10), I get a somewhat sharp pain in that area... feels like a very short mini headache...

Anyone have any ideas? This happens to me every so often, usually if I have a cold.. but this time, I'm fine.. and it's the first time it's woken me up in the morning and kept me from sleeping...

heh, i really hope it wouldn't be a "tumah" If so, I would think I'd be dead by now considering it has happened quite a few times before Altho, maybe it's not exactly a headache, since it doesn't encompass a large portion of my head.. its very locational...

hrm... shooting sharp pain can often be associate with nerve impingement. Your headache could be caused by one of many things... of which could be inflammation of a certain area thus impinging a nerve... go to a doctor, I've still got a couple years before I'm one

i'm a doctor and all i can say is, "what the F*CK are you talking about?" You shouldn't be giving medical opinions based on such limited information, especially at such an early stage in your training.

To the original poster: Can't diagnose you with so little information. Could be migraines, sinus headaches, tension headaches, dental disease, temporomandibular joint problems, aneurysm, tumors, etc etc etc etc. The point is that there are many causes of headaches. If you are concerned, always consult your physician.

i'm not that concerned... i just never got around to finding out what exactly this is. And no, it snot really a sharp shooting pain. It's kind of above my ear, towards the back of my head, left side. but it's subsided now it seems. tylenol seems to have helped some (musta wore off in the morning when i woke up tho.. arg)

Cellphone use does that to me. Its a pretty distinct cellphone headache on the side of the head holding the phone. Your brain is actually really sensitive to the temperature changes IMO as the radio-waves pass through. I do not think it has to do with ionizing radiation, but probably the temperature sensitivity however localized. Its also why you get a headache with a fever.

Being around strong electromagnetic equipment does the same thing to me. Talking like, energized MRI scanners and such. Or equipment using 10kW and probably throws off a heck of a field. But I do get a headache after about 1hr on a cellphone especially if I'm holding it instead of using speaker or bluetooth.

What you describe reminds me of that. Or brain tumors, you never know, health stuff. I'm not a doctor or anything just observant about modern health stuff. Stuff moms will say 50 years from now. Don't hold your cellphone up to your head you'll get a headache!

Your description is not a lot to go on, but look up primary stabbing (ice pick) headaches.
