You guys are all smart, so let's play web doctor.

I picked up a simple cold about 2 1/2 weeks ago. 9 or 10 days ago I found out that 2 close friends of mine have mono. I have had plenty of chances to have picked it up from them when it was in its early stages (sharing drinks), and sure enough 3 days later I was stuck in bed and getting progressively worse. Symptoms included extreme fatigue (I actually slept for 18 hours one of the first few days), loss of apetite, stomach pain (particularly my sides just below my rib cage), muscle and joint pain, trouble getting to sleep (I've been particularly restless while laying down), extreme chills and hot flashes, blurred vision at times, increased sensitivity to sound, frequent urination, extreme loss of concentration, memory loss, waking up sweating and with a pounding heart, sluggish movement, and what seems to be almost uncontrollable mood swings, which is not at all normal for me.

I've always had a slight problem with tremors. It's never been a huge deal, usually only showing up when I'm nervous, and even then its nothing more than my hand or neck shaking. I've noticed that the last week, and particularly the last 48 hours, it has gotten much much worse. Lying in bed my legs twitch what seems like two or three times a minute, and my hands are worse. Moving my mouse around will be perfectly normal and then out of nowhere my hand will twich and the cursor will move all the way across the screen. Holding my hand out flat and keeping it from shaking is basically impossible for me right now. The University's medical service let me know today that my mono test came back negative (again... the first one failed and they thought it was too early so they made me retest), and they instructed me to come in a few days from now if I still don't feel better. The second time they tested me for mono they also checked my kidney function and it is fine. I do feel a bit better than I did over the weekend, but that's because I haven't left my apartment for more than 2 hours total over the last 5 days. I'm getting ready to go to class for the first time since mid last week and we will see how the day goes.

I'm 20, in good shape. Family has a history of low blood pressure and high metabolisms.

Anyone know what it is?

The mono can be serious, but the tremors are definitely a good reason to see a DR. It could be nothing, or it could be something serious, better get checked out.

Attentionwhoreosis? 😉

Sounds like a cold then the flu with lack of electrolytes. Potassium and calcium. See another doc it the systems persist. Except for the shaking, you are better, right?

What did you expect? How many of us are actually doctors (though some may have stayed at a Holiday Inn last night)?

You are anemic, diabetic and on top of all that, you have multiple sclerosis.

It still doesn't mean that everyone has to be a smartass about it, but I guess that's ATOT. 🙂
