I encounter some problem runnin D2 in the following setup:
Pentium 3 450Mhz o/c 525Mhz(117FSBx4.5)
64mb Apacer PC100
Win2K Advance Server

Generic Savage4 8Mb with Reference driver ver 8.30.23

Innovision Geforce 256 SDR 32Mb with Detonator 5.30 drivers

Savage4 can only run DirectDraw But Geforce was runnin D3D when runnin Diablo2.

Geforce benched 2874 3DMarks on 1024x768x16bit but Savage4 failed completing 3DMarks.

I can feel Savage4 is quicker than Geforce when running Diablo2 from "Seat of the pants" feel.....what gives??

Thnx

The only thing that could help d2 is more ram, it seems to be a ram hog. As for vid cards, its a %#@ 2d game, no where near stressful for your pc. Atleast mine and i have a geforce ddr. I have mp3's etc running in the background.

Did you try running Diablo2 in DirectDraw with the GeForce? If that would help your performance, you probably have probelms with your vid card drivers.

Buy More RAM!!I just noticed you were running win2k advanced server. Didn't you notice the minimum requirements for that o/s is like 96/128mb? Trying to run a ram hog game on 64mb is not kewl.. not kewl at all.

It has to do with the Nvidia drivers. They obviously don't mesh very well with the way Diablo2 was coded. My Matrox G400 runs Diablo2 faster than most Geforces and I've gathered that this game runs rather well on most cards except Nvidia cards. It's mostly(if not all) in the drivers...
