Should I be good with an i7-860 and 5870?

Yeah, that should run it just fine. Although, it does depend on your resolution and desired visual effects, but I run with an i5-2500k and a 6950 (fairly similar), and it plays it just fine at 1920x1200.

Given Blizzard's history, I don't personally believe any release date not 'Officially' posted and Sanctioned on a Blizzard web site, By Blizzard personel. Been burned before, by Diablo titles in fact...

I would go with what they always say "It will be released when it is finished."

Losing interest fast in this title with all the poor choices and changes being made. Not to the point of rageface and cancelling preorder, I've already paid for the collectors edition. My expectations are very low now though.

The latest is now when you are playing in multiplayer games, the game will take everyone's MF rating, find the average and apply that to everyone in the game.... All this due to people whining to Blizzard about people joining games with maxed out MF and not helping to kill and 'leeching' The game is not even released and Blizzard is pandering to a fan base paranoid about people playing in selfish and anti-social ways.

I expect the game to get nerfed into oblivion if there is anything remotely difficult about it with them already making silly changes such as this. Diablo 3 : World of Diablocraft

Except they aren't 'locked' you can easily to into the game menu and 'unlock' them. I think this has been covered somewhere already...

elective mode? yea it doesnt work

Funny, mine works fine. When you enable elective mode choose a skill slow of your liking and you'll see arrows to the left and right you can click to change categories. Pick the skill you want and it is applied. I just verified in game that it works.

i should rephrase, it doesn't work how i want it to, when i create a new char i should be able to move skills wherever i want, i can't because buttons are locked. and yes that pisses me off enough to not buy the game

i also cant click and drag skills, for a PC game that is unacceptable. if this is dooable id love to know how

It's disappointing to see that they have done that (average Magic Find for everyone in a game, etc), which might indeed provoke the greedy side of many players out there. But, if you think about it, Diablo II was greed incarnate, and was certainly as far away as I can remember from being social-friendly. It was first-arrived-first-served, or first-loot-bot-first-served, or first to leech first to be happy. If something of the slightest amount of valued dropped, everyone seeing the drop in question would literally run at it and try their best at being the first to get it.

I still played the damn thing for seven years of my life though (about five of them being on-line). At least, in Diablo III, the loot table is unique for every player in any given game. If something - anything - drops, then it's for you, you and only you can see it and can pick it up. So, of course, creating some sort of an average Magic Find value for a party in the same game and applying it for everyone could perhaps be concerned contradictory to the very per-player loot table system, but it's still light years better than Diablo II's harsh greedy-based nature.

If I had to chose, I'd definitely go with Diablo III on that one, any time of the day over the "omg you dumb leecher you picked up MY loot!" outcries of Diablo II.

I love that loot is individual now, it had some good to it in D2, and that was when you were the lucky one. :D Yeah, it sucked.

I just think before making a sweeping change like that, at least leave the game as it was and see if it became an issue. Really came off as a case of over zealousness and makes me think Blizzard has a really low opinion of their player base :colbert:

I canceled my pre-order when they announced no offline play. When Ubisoft does it it's the worst thing ever, but Blizzard can get away with anything I guess.

The difference is that Ubisoft requires you to be connected for no reason other than authentication. With Diablo III, you can at least say the maps are all server generated, and you're actually playing on servers. It also hopefully alleviates any sort of cheating.

While you may not necessarily like those reasons, at least they exist. :p

Oooo, exciting.

Despite all trepidations, I still have Diablo 3 CE preordered.

Torchlight is already out now. You can buy it on steam for cheap..and its the same thing. It has a better everything. Graphics/gameplay/item drops.

If you want better voice actors then maybe that is worth more money to you.

Maps can be randomly generated in single player, too. And with a max of 4 players (lol) the fact that they're hosting the servers doesn't exactly seem like a benefit to me, publicly hosted servers or even p2p hosting with server migration would've worked just as well.

Also, others cheating has absolutely no effect on my game personally. If it bothers you you don't have to play with them, I tend to play with friends over strangers anyways. The only thing rampant cheating affects is Blizzard's ability to sell people in game items, which is exactly what this always online DRM is about. Not piracy or quality control or anything else.

Link seems dead, or not pointing to anything about this release date anyway.

torchlight was fun, but it definitely did not appeal to me the same way D2 did even though it was made by some of the people who made D1/D2.
