Technically...this would be a PC port since it's being developed for PC first-hand.

So, if anything it'll suck for the console players, but then again how difficult could it be to map the commands to a controller if it's similar to D2?

Wasn't Diablo on the Playstation?

I didn't see that affect the PC version much.

I personally don't care for Diablo, but I trust Blizzard to do a quality job of things.

Actually hack & slash games seem well suited to consoles, there really isn't all that much to control.

I wouldn't call Diablo a hack and slash...lol

Dear christ... the PC version has been in development for a long time. Much longer than they're been thinking about a console version. Why do you assume that just because they MIGHT SOME DAY want to bring it to consoles the PC version will be affected? Quit being so paranoid and quick to blame consoles for everything. It's getting tiring.

Easy tiger. I think he was thinking that somehow the PC version would become a port of the console version, which does indeed suck 95% of the time.

I know, but it's a silly thing to think of when you know the PC version has been worked on for years and console version isn't even confirmed, announced, and is still looking for people to make a team out of. I'm just saying I'm sick of hearing people whine about how anything that may be even slightly connected to consoles is going to suck. Valve released the orange box on consoles at the same time and that didn't change how awesome the PC versions were. People jump to conclusions way too quickly at the mention of the word "console".

"okay, so in order to do this you have to open the command line console"

"console? CONSOLE?!?!?! STUPID MOTHER F'ING CONSOLES RUINING PC GAMING RABLRABLRABL :mad::mad:"

Like I said before in the thread about this in console gaming, I'll believe it when I see it.

Have you all forgotten about SC Ghost which was supposedly being developed for 5 years only to be placed on "indefinite hold"?

Third-person shooter with stats and levels.

Right, because everyone nows that Diablo has guns... idoit.

It's obviously a hack and slash. Fuck, it's pretty much the exact definition of a hack and slash game. Sure, there are spells and ranged weaponry, but the game contains absolutely nothing that defines it as a shooter.

@OP: For it to be a console port it would have to had been developed for consoles first.. This shit's getting old. Every time a game comes out for more than one platform, some idiot is posting about how it's going to be ruined because of the consoles.

diablo is nothing but click button: slash/bash/mash

click other button: shoot spell and explode.

it might be the quintessential hack and slash. :D

I'd agree with GOTHAMMER, Hack n' Slash IMO has always been the Devil May Cry and its ilk, although I'd understand if those games were considered TP Brawlers seeing how they're essentially descended from Streets of Rage.

I always lumped Diablo into the "Dungeon Crawler" catagory, if such a thing exists.

Third-person shooter with stats and levels.

Third person shooters are viewed from behind the shoulder. Diablo is a top-down view, and at a slight angle.

Shortly after Diablo came out (the original and not DII), PC magazine called it a "dungeon crawler."

As for the console port, how do you play Diablo without a mouse?

If there's going to be a diablo console port it'll probably be diablo IV (I wouldn't be surprised if this was the case with activision pulling the financial decisions). Diablo III's going to be a PC port to console though.

Blizzard would not go for that at all. If Activision's push had any bearing on them, they would have rushed D3 out long ago. This is Blizzard we are talking about here. They are one of the few PC devs out there that put their hearts into every game that they make, and it really shows. I think Activision realizes that Blizzard knows what they are doing and knows well enough to just leave them alone.

Activision has a lot more pull then people think they do I think. It's going to be more evident on Blizzards next round of releases rather than sc2/wow/d3.

I'm not sure of the terms under which Blizzard was purchased by Activsion, but I would think that most of the devs that fold to Actvision's pressure signed some sort of agreement saying that they would deliver X amount of games in X amount of years or something to that effect.

If it wasn't public information, you wouldn't even know that Activision bought Blizzard because absolutely nothing has changed in the way that Blizzard operates.

If you followed the development of b.net2 you'd realize this is not the case. They also rapidly expanded their store/paid services for WoW after the activision buyout.

Right, because everyone nows that Diablo has guns... idoit.
Shooters need not have guns, you shoot plenty of arrows and crossbows in Diablo and some people refer to casting spells (fireballs, lighting, etc.) as shooting.

Yeah, Diablo 1 pretty much created the Hack 'n' Slash genre. Started a chain devolution in RPG gameplay too. :(
