Diablo III - Any Word Yet?

Just throwing it out there - has anyone heard of anything with respect to Diablo III? Since the major players left blizzard, I am not sure if this is definately in their plans?

I wouldn't expect it for a while now, blizzard makes new games on LONG intervals, and little/no info gets leaked out. I think it should be about time for a sequel to SC by now!!!!

Think it's really up in teh air with the departure of Max and Erich Schaefer, David Brevik and Bill Roper.
Those guys were all senior developers and programmers who worked on future games...

oh and 2 years later 1.10 patch is still not out yet...

ill have to agree that it will be quite awhile since 3 of the main men behind the game have left. Blizzard seems to be expelling talent, first the minds behind starcraft and warcraft, and now diablo... hmmm vivendi certinaly screwed that one up

they are currently working on world of warcraft (some gaming mag had a preview this month)

i think they had plans for a starcraft console game in the works too but im not certain anymore. anyway, D3 will be a long time coming, if they make one at all.

And nearly identical gameplay. Ug..... the horrible, repetitive gameplay... I paid for Diablo II too.

Blizzard / Blizzard North haven't released any info on Diablo III. Haven't even said it is being worked on, if it is a project at all. But with how hugely successful D2 was Diablo III being made seems assured.

StarCraft 2 hasn't been announced either.

I'm still waiting for D2 1.10 though. Not sure what the hold up is. They keep saying it is "close" or "it's our top priority", etc but it's still just in offline beta.

As for Diablo 3, the world was destroyed at the end of D2 wasn't it? I wonder how the story would pick up from there?

yeah.. I agree. I'd prefer Blizzard to make StarCraft2. and if there will be a third sequel of any game... I choose for Fallout3

Hasn't D2 been out for 3 years now? What in the world is the patch supposed to fix? And why after this much time?

The patch is not going to fix anything. It's going to be almost an expansion essentially. New items, etc. Monsters will be random, not as predictable as it is right now.

Diablo II had a storyline?

anyhow, I'm pretty sure that D3 will eventually get released. Remember, it's a franchise game and a huge cash cow for Blizzard North. It will ba damn hard for them to walk away from virtually guaranteed money.
