Diablo II screen freeze in caves

First off....I Really love this game. It's much better than the GREAT 1st version.

But,


I get a screen freeze about half way through a cave when I have a Rogue mercenary. happens every time. The sound keeps on going like everything is OK.

Coincidentally, my Desktop shortcuts started to become unreadable shortly after I installed the game.

System: W95B, C II 566, 128 PC-100, CL Banshee PCI, CL SoundBlaster 32 Bit.



Yes, It?s obviously a video problem. I re-loaded the latest 3dfx video drivers.
The game said that I should use Glide.

Any suggestions??

wish i could help my system just totaly freezes while i am playing it and i have the latest drivers . i have tried everything even reformated my computer.

I've got a CLA2 and a diamond MX300 and I'm having the same problem, I've been searching blizzards tech support but no luck so far

Well,

I re-ran the Diablo II video test and, did not, use the recommended glide setting. I used the 3dfx setting (forgot what it's called) and no more freezes I don't like the picture quality, but I can at least play the game.

I also added the latest Diablo Patch. It fixed a lot of small issues.


I still have a problem with the "washed out" Desk Top icons, shortcut's and folder's. I don't think this is Diablo's fault. I must have inadvertently changed something in my haste to get the game working

I would appreciate anyone's stab on what might have happened.

I bumped up my voltage .5 and now it's smooth. 700 cB0 @ 933.
