Diablo II and D3D on my system, need help!

Alright, when I start Diablo II my computer starts to do some things like it's starting up, and then the busy sign goes away and it's like I'm normally on my desktop, ctrl+alt+delete, Diablo II and Game are both running but I see no change in my computer, I have i believe 4.13.7075 drivers, and vertical sync off, i tried switching to DirectDraw 2D but it won't let me, everytime I select it and OK, it automatically switches to 3d, need help, if you need more info, give a hollar.
