Diablo II -- Act II

I'm stuck in the lost city, looking for the viper den to complete the horadric staff. I've been around and around the borders of the lost city area looking for the next area, but can't find anything; no breaks in the wall or extra underground passages.

My character has advanced by four levels looking for the next section. Could someone please post a screenshot of where the next area is.

I've heard of other people with this problem. I'm using the patch v1.02 if that helps.

Kmurphy: Yes, this drives just about every body crazy.

I've completed this quest, and I looked at my map to try to figure out exactly where the den is/was. I can't remember exactly from looking at it, sorry. However, I can tell you this: THe key here is running around the far outside edge of lost city. There is a tiny passageway between some rocks that leads you to the area where the viper temple or whatever is. Make sure you run ALL around the edge of lost city and uncover every terrain block on your map. The gap is small, and it's easy to miss if you're not running very close to the outside boundaries.

Sorry, I know you wanted something more specific than this... I just can't figure out where the heck it is from looking at my map. My SENSE is that it's a quadrant on the southwest side, but I'm not positive. Sorry.

The temple isn't that difficult once you get there. The clawvipers make a creepy sound when they're coming after you though...

I thought the viper den is right in the middle of the lost city. I know that there is something that's smack dab in the middle of an area in act II.

By the way, Act III sucks.

The Viper den is in a seperate area. Its is not part of the lost city. You can awrp into the lost city to get to the right area BUT you have to as the person 2 above me said.. Scour the edge of the map till you see a) a staircase leading UP or b) a small passage way to the Valley of Snakes.

Take those the one that comes FIRST. and then take the small passage way. Good luck its not that hard. Maggot lair is a b&^#$ when you are a summoning necro.

Ugh, maybe I'm leading you astray kmurphy. Sorry. I just can't tell by looking at my maps where the hell it is.

I do remember the opening to it. There are two giant stone vipers on either side of the door, and it rises up out of the sand... it's not built into a wall or anything. Not that that helps a heck of a lot.

um, none of you know? Every map is randomly generated when the game is started...so you can never tell someone where something is except for where it is in relation to another area (ex: the barracks are by the outer cloister in act1). The Viper Den is in the Valley of the Snakes (usually near the Valley's entrance) which can only be reached by going through the Lost City area...that is as exact an answer as you can get.

I liked Act III, especially the ending, the beginning was a bit boring though.
But OTOH the ending cinematic was godly, so way fscking cool
