Correct, but how did the previous 5 souls get into a soulstone, if it was hidden in some magical barrier and such until the moment you free and kill Zolton.

The cutscene right before you fight Zolton explains that, you see him activate the soul stone then black objects fly towards it. Zolton is then surprised their are souls already in it.

You kill him, Adria explains she was tracking the energies of the evils and tags them with a magic spell. She then had to wait for the Black Soulstone to be turned on so it could syphon the energies in.

And sure, you can add the twist of why after finding the soulstone does Adria no longer tag the souls of belial and Azmodan, but instead of Leah do it? I figured by then the energies were too much and Adria wouldn't be able to contain the evils so she task Leah with it.

There was a quest line that dealt with the mysterious prisoner that was kidnapped by the Defias, but that quest line just ended abruptly. They found him on Alcaz Island in the game, but Blizzard never used it.

That didn't end abruptly, he fell into the ocean and was deemed dead. The quest ends with the Alliance thinking they lost their last known king.

Then the short story/book came out about (shit what was his horde name?) and his mind splitting, then two Varians - Varian/Larrosh?, then his son, blah blah, his two halves unite, and we get the return of Varian "Larrosh" and yada yada.

I think the only quest line in the game that was more annoying in regard to its abrupt ending was the Shady Rest Inn, which also took place in Dustwallow Marsh. 😛 Fortunately, they eventually tied that one up, and I believe that was added in Cataclysm... I think. Frankly, it all blends together at this point, which means I may be wrong again! 😛

That quest line ended too, in Vanilla. It EDIT: before the change to quest tracking a lot of people couldn't finish it because they never found all 3 clues at the inn, but they were all there from the start. After the quest update to tracking, the 3 clues had the glow so more people were able to finish it. I finished it my first play through because I pretty much combed the whole goddamn inn being due to my OCD haha. /EDIT You kill the guys that attacked the inn and give peace to the family. There was nothing else to resolve.

I played it, it definitely does not suck... It's better than diablo 2, slightly less numbers, but identical in play experience.

I don't know what more one could expect.

Yes, he is surprised there is already souls in it. Not "souls are already entering it". Sure I am cutting hairs here on the English language.

Also, according to D2, when a soulstone is shattered on the anvil in hell with a soul in it, it is permanently destroyed. So how did Adria get those 2 (probably 3 if we assume that after game credits the hero smashes Baal's stone on the anvil too, as Tyrael would have asked) souls to enter another soul stone?

It just explains she did it. Not how, which could raise other questions.

I found out that you can just read them all in one huge chronological compendium online. 😛

And to think I actually read the books and had to mentally note where each book took place.

However, if you played cataclysm and the lv 85 daily hub in Mount Hyjal zone, and read the books, The archdruid Runetotem was a favorite character When I saw him burn by the fire druids in the daily quest chain to unlock some quests in firelands... oh I was going to make sure that Ragnaros and friends paid dearly for doing that.

Actually now that I remember it, Runetotem "almost" dies like 2-3 times in the books and in game... He is unkillable.

I'd have to watch the scene again, it could be he notes the souls entering in, but it is there where the souls enter the soulstone.

Also, according to D2, when a soulstone is shattered on the anvil in hell with a soul in it, it is permanently destroyed. Which is permanently destroyed - the soulstone or the soul? I think these are kind of questions that most often lore crafters leave open for interpretation - so people ask questions.

I don't really know the D2 lore too well, but there might be something stated some where...maybe even a book haha.

Well of course it would raise questions. If I remember right there were a set of in-game books (audio tapes if you would) that went into more detail on how she tracked down the souls and tagged them. I'd have to check when I get home.

Outside of it telling us what she did, I think getting into specific of how she did it (ie which spell) is getting into specifics only the writers may know. And since it was two different creative teams, of course continunity would be compromised.

As I recall and am able to find online, smashing the soulstones with the demon's soul trapped in it is supposed to banish them to the Black Abyss. It makes them incapable of manifesting in Sanctuary again. But of course, that begs the question. Why didn't Tyrael smash the soulstones when the Prime Evils were imprisoned in them the first time?

Blizzard's never been great with their lore. Warcraft has had so many plot gaps and revisions of its history.

-How was she able to track them down, especially the 3 prime evils in hell (that according to tyrael would destroy the souls when the stone is shattered on the anvil)?

-How did she tag them, and get them to enter the stone upon appearance, since the 2 minor lords of Hell killed in D2 died 20 years ago, and no soulstone was taken from them.

-Did she go alone and tread lightly, as all but 1 of the 5 souls would require her to go through the most dangerous of areas, and a majority of them were not Diablo allied as she is?

-How did wise man deckard cain not know of her doing this being the Horadum he is? And maybe he did, but then why did he not question it and find the truth of it knowing his brotherhood knew of the existance of a black soulstone as Zolton was one of them and talk about it before hand?

Basically as D3 goes it is more like:

She did it, who cares, diablo is reborn. With no real details on the knowledge of this.

How about a new game, instead of the old one rendered in 3D and stripped down?

Heck, if they had just come out with a 3D version of Diablo 2 several years ago and charged twenty bucks for it I would have been happy. The fact they are charging sixty dollars for a supposedly new game that sucks ass isnt impressing me.
