Diablo 2 Question

Got a noob question regarding diablo 2 LOD. when an item, say a staff for a sorceress, has an attribute that says '+3% mana per hit' does this mean melee hit (with the staff) or spell hit (blizzard for example)? thanks

That relates to physical damage done by the staff itself. Not magical abilities.

For non-physical damage characters, you'll probably want "+X mana after each kill" instead, since that will give you a few mana back regardless of the method of monster killing.
