This is for someone that I built a computer for, and he is having problems with this game. I personally don't play Diablo 2, but anyone with any suggestions would help.
System specs:
Elsa Geforce2 GTS 32 MB (Detonator 3's that came out BEFORE most recent [OFFICIAL FROM NVIDIA])
MSI KT7 PRO2A
AMD TBIRD 1 GHz. @ 1.15 GHz.
128 MB Mosel Vitalic PC133
SB LIVE XGAMER 5.1
Winblows 98SE w/ all latest patches
IBM 30 GB 75GXP
Anyways, I did tell him to patch to the latest version, and apparently that hasn't helped yet. I am almost most certain that the CPU isn't the issue, as I torchure tested it running Unreal in software for 12 hours at a time.. From personal experiece, Unreal in software mode was one of the best ways to test for stability. Also ran Seti @ home for 12 hours at a time with no hickups. Here is the exact email I got from him describing the problem:
"It doesn't lock up on any particular scene or battle or against a certain
monster over a certain length of time.
By locking up, I mean the cursor freezes, the Win98 exclamation chime sounds
and the only way to get
out is to reboot with the reset button."
So.... Any suggestions?
Thanks,
skeeter
