Hi guys,

I know Diablo 2 is played out but I still enjoy it.
I was wondering if anyone could write an interesting description of how they (hackers) managed to create ITH-items (i.e. ITH-Fury runeword).
I'm not planning on hacking, just curious.

Also - do you know any tricks on how to detect dupes? (I traded for a WF the other day and I dont want it to disappear)

Thanks

I can't stand hackers or cheaters who hurt other people by stealing items or accounts or whatever.
Dupers suck because they trade stuff that will disappear on you (Bliz sucks for deleting the dupes, which doesn't hurt the duper as much as the sucker who bought the dupe).

But some hacks I think are ok. I think MAPHACK is fine and cool and a nice addition to the game. I don't use it - since I don't want to get burnt by Bliz.

The guys who invented ITH-runewords did a great service to the Diablo community. Yes they hacked items, but it's obvious - they aren't trying to trick you with dupes. Also, the sad state of Diablo 2 is such that you MUST have an Ethereal-Zod ITH weapon filled with 40/15 jewels to kick butt as a Barbarian or other melee character in the Cow levels.

I think Bliz really failed us with LOD in regards to the promises made about crafted items, runewords etc.

It's a bug that doesnt exist anymore. A runeword is the sum of the effect of all runes+ the runeword effect. With the bug they could unsocket the item, and lose the properties of the runes themselves but keep the word bonuses... and socket it with anything they had for more bonuses....

I understand what an ITH is - I was looking for an interesting highly technical discussion of how they do it.
