Hi,
I can't seem to get Diablo 2 to run stable on my computer. I have the following system configs:

Celeron 333
128mb ram
TnT2 Ultra
Diamond Monster Sound MX300
Win98

I did a full install of diablo 2. Tried running using direct draw and etc. Still no good. The game will freeze a while after entering the game or during load up depending on the graphic driver used. Can anyone help?!? Thanks a bunch!

Change your icon properties to "...\Diablo II" -w
This runs it in a window.

Also get their 1.01 patch.
Many people had to update the firmware in their CD to even install it.

They put some sort of copy protection on their CDs which prevented many legitimate owners from running the program.

Longtimepcuser,

The patch was already applied and the copy protection would prevent you from not loading the game and not lockup the computer. I haven't try running in windows but will do that. Thanks. Anyone else?

For me took a driver update and a windows/Directx reinstall.
My viper 770 drivers wont cut it, but reference 5.3 drivers did

Thanks damocles for responding. I already tried the 5.30 driver and a reinstalltion of directx 7.0. No good...

There seems to be a problem with diablo 2 and geforce (for me, its a prophet 2 64MB).

Under direct3d, diablo 2 will hang right before game starts. If you let it wait 5 mins, I heard it clears up.

This is a compromise and NOT a fix, but if you choose Directdraw instead of D3D, it won't lock up.

I had the same thing with my TNT 2, and tried about 5 different drivers with no luck.

changed to directdraw, and while I lose the 3d effects (which sucks) the game doesn't crash.

The 1.02 patch fixed my problem of rebooting my pc upon Save & Exit. Although there was no indication in the release notes of fixing such problems, it somehow did. Hopefully it will stay this way when I fire it up tonite. Try the patch if you are still having trouble. It apparently fixes a problem of memory leakage after playing it for a while.
