I have recently bought Diablo II. When I try to run it the intro movie runs perfectly, but after that the game just exits to windows. I have the following system:-

*AMD Athlon 700
*Hercules 3D Prophet DDR with latest drivers (version 5.x)
*192MB SD-RAM(PC133)
*Sounbblaster AWE64
*50x IDE CD-ROM
*7200rpm 20GB HDD + 8GB HDD (both IDE)
*Win98
*Directx 7
*All Microsoft perripherals (inc. Intellimouse explorer, s/winder gamepad and precision pro).

Does anyone know what the problem could be, or does anyone elso share the same problem?

Also:-

My computer is constantly and randomly crashing in Windows98 (famous blue error screen). One of my harddisks is brand new and is being used for Win98, while the 8GB has been competely reformatted and is being used for Win2000 and I constantly defrag and run scandisk on both drives so to me, it makes no sense. These crashes are either when exiting or starting a program, or when windows starts up.

Any help for either of these topics is greatly appreciated;

Peter Harlovic.

I wish I had a solution or at least a suggestion, but I don't! D2 seems to have major problems with Athlons as well as nVidia video cards. Supposedly updating the drivers will help remedy the problem with choppy or mutated video. However, this does not appear to be your problem. If you haven't done it already, check out Blizzard's tech support at www.blizzard.com There may be a solution there or you may be like the tens of thousands of us who can't get the game to run consistently!

After new (or at least newer) sound drivers and the latest Diablo II patch and after checking tech support (which I had already done) the problem was still not solved. However, I uninstalled the game from Win98 and re-installed it in Win2000 and I have had no problems whatsoever now.
