So I used to play Diablo 2 for a long time on my previous computer using XP...I saved my characters onto a disk so I wouldn't lose them.

I haven't played in awhile and since have gotten a new vista computer. I installed D2 and copied the characters over to the save folder. Of the 5 characters I had only 2 showed up. I can understand if all didn't because they weren't compatible but only 2 to show up? I have not done anything to them so I can't figure out why that happened...is there anything I can do or that I am missing?

thanks!

Its a update issue, re-install D2 again, copy the chr's and then do the updates

its because 3 were played after you updated and the game hasnt been yet or because those 3 havent gone through the update install and you copied them after the update.

They are just single player characters for my enjoyment :)

i tried to run the update on the blizzard site but it said I didn't have the correct download for my OS. I have Vista 64x but there was only 1 update listed on the blizzard support site. I clicked on the LOD update and it didn't work. I'll try it again but I really hope that is the issue.

Thanks

Were they Expansion characters or non-expansion characters?
And I dont just mean Druid & Assassin. I mean ANY character that you played using the expansion.

Usually they show up and you have to choose to upgrade them to the Expansion if you wanna play them in the Expansion.

I'm thinking maybe the game is acting like a bastard and wont even let you see them since they were copied over from another machine.

no ;-) you can copy your local characters around just fine.

the only thing is, you must change the name of the local character (use UDieToo editor), if both of them were to join the same local LAN server.
