Is there a way to burn Diablo 2?? I havent been able to so far. I dont want to scratch my original cd.

There you can also find a no-CD crack, which allows you to play the game completely from your HD, so that you can store your CD's in a safe and scratchfree place. You'll need a full install.

I got the no cd patch for diablo 2 but I still don't know how to get it to work without the cd. I followed the instructions and it still didn't work. I would appreciate it if you could walk me through it step by step.

You could also use Clonecd , with the correct cd-rom + burner you will get a working "backup" 😉

I have win 98 and diablo ver 1.02, i just dont understand the steps on gamecopy world. I would apprecite it if someone can walk me through it. The diablo version 1.02 no cd/fixed game.

Will CloneCD and CDRWIN work for backuping up Diablo 2 so that it if it gets scratched and dirty I'll have a good copy?

You have the US version?

1. Install the game - Full Installation (~ 1.5 GB).
2. Apply the official Diablo 2 v1.02 Patch.
3. Make backup copy of game.exe. Copy it somewhere else or rename it
game.exe.old, do this just to be on the safe side.
4. Replace the original Game Executable (game.exe) with the one
from the Patch Archive.

5. Copy the following file from CD#2 (PLAY CD) to the game directory:

D2MUSIC.MPQ (It's a BIG file.)

Play the Game!

Really? Only if you play Battle.net or it doesn't work for any
multiplayer game at all (LAN, for example)??

yah, I have it working on a network game every day, just not on the secure servers on Battlenet. I would be playing there too, but for some reason, I can't get the game to run at all on one of my computers w/ the freakin 1.02 patch. I get the c00000005 error w/ in a second of the game actually starting. Works fine on the 1.01 version tho. <shrug>

I have a Plextor 8432 and have used CDRWIN, Nero, and CLone CD. None of them have produced a good copy. I think Diablo 2 looks at the CD id, the part where it shows what type of CD it is. Blank CD's have an ID on them that say what speed it can run at and other stuff like that and I think the D2 program looks in that area.

You acutually should not replace the game.exe file. You should use the patched game.exe file and rename it to something like start.exe. When you run the game, run it from start.exe then when you play mult it will look at the game.exe, see that it is the right size and version and let you play multiplayer.
