Diablo II: Lord of Destruction set out 6/28
Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal set out 6/24

considering both are similar games, and both had great success... who will win this time?

I dont consider them similiar, part of the same genre of games. I would say Diablo II will do better.

Personally I don't consider Diablo and BG all that similar.

As for which is better, I've never cared for Diablo 2 very much. But I LOVE BG1 and 2. And I'm definitely buying the expansion pack.

i don't know how much the diablo 2 one is but 30 bucks for the bg2 is too much money. 20 bucks is all i will spend on an expansion pack with that much gameplay.

No Baldur's Gate 2 and Diablo 2 are not that similar, they are both great games, but they are almost too different to compare, they have similar concepts but are very different

They are not very similar at all. BG holds true to the role-playing genre while D2 is best described as an action game with rpg-elements.

D2 is a Fantasy Shooter not a true rpg. It's fun though like D1.
BG2 and expansion is the stuff, and I must have it. ;)
The idea of taking my lvl 1 characters from BG1 and developing them to lvl 40 over 4 seperate games is like a personal experience. I don't get that with D2 at all, and I have too many chars there. Gets tedious after lvl 75 - 81, so I make another and another and ...

I heard $40 a couple months ago but I really doubt it. I expect $30 which is the preorder price of most places. But I don't know if I even want the xpac (will at least have to wait a while) or even if it is good I might be playing WW2 Online too much if it's good.

But I will get D2 xpac over BG2 because I don't even have BG2 because I'm not much of a fan of RPGs just D2 isn't much of an RPG so I like it.

I like BG2 and D2, but I'm only getting the D2 exp--don't feel like installing all 4 discs of BG2 and editing characters back to recreate my old save games just to play one tower quest and a beefed up ending.

Definalty going for d2. Gonna whoop some Baal Tail with my Paladin, and maybe my Barbarian. I can't WAIT for the cutscenes, they're supposed to be longer then D2 IIRC. After watching the d2 cutscenes, it was like "Alrighty then, lets find some clean pants"
