Diabetes Question

I've been having a lot of symptoms (limbs falling asleep, headaches, etc.), and I went to the doctors. She ran blood work and everything came back "fine". As she was running through the list, I heard "glucose OK". Does this mean diabetes is ruled out, or most likely not an issue? I think it was in the 90's.... and that was without fasting.

J/W. I know I should probably ask her but if this is an easy question I won't call back.

Glucose OK means that you don't have too much blood sugar. Abnormal glucose levels are a symptom of diabetes.

how old are you? how much do you work out?

23, four times per week

you should be all right... I guess its the cold weather.
I have been feeling the same way... tired and weak and want to sleep all the time. 🙂

Yes.

It was my impression that a blood test under special conditions (fasting, then intake of a glucose solution or something like that) was required to rule out diabetes, but I could be wrong. From what I understand, a fit diabetic in good compliance could have a 'normal' blood sugar reading on a regular blood test. I'm not a doctor, however. Did the OP specifically talk about diabetes with his doctor?

Diabetes is diagnosed by fasting glucose of >126, random glucose of >200 or 2 hour glucose tolerance test of >200 i think. So if you're below, you technically don't have diabetes.

I don't know how it works, but the tests they run now can tell what your sugar levels have been like for the last 90 days.
