My dad found out he has type 2 diabetes, the most common type, and I'm hoping that if any of you have found particularly excellent sources
of information about that condition, or recipes, and so on, that you could share that. Also if there is a particularly excellent group or doctor in the Orange County (CA) area which specializes in diabetes.

Thank you for any help or pointers.

First place is the American Diabetes Association ( American Diabetes Association ).

Have him join. For the money, he gets a monthly magazine with lots of extremely helpful information.

If he's not booked already, have him sign up for diabetes counselling from a Nurse Practitioner (who will also get him a consult with a dietician).

Depending on the level of affliction, finding out the do's & don'ts as early as possible is a good thing to keep it from getting worse, or maybe correcting it to a more tolerable level.

Don't let him ignore it, it won't go away, and the longer it goes without lifestyle modifications and treatment (or just geting some good advice), the worse it'll get.

Take care
