just upgraded my internet speed to 16mb. and while doing speed testing i get about 9,000 through the router and 32,000 connected directly to the modem. When upnp is enabled i can see my internet connection speed in network connections and is shown at 10mbps.

I've upgraded and downgraded trying about 4 firmwares and no luck. I've also tried selecting compatability mode to 100mbps only on the router settings, no luck.

Is there anything else i can try?

Most consumer level routers, including your DI524, only have a 10Mbps Internet/WAN port. If you want to use a router and still take full advantage of your Internet connection, you'll need to upgrade to a router that has a 10/100Mpbs WAN port.

the 524, 604, and 624 all have 10/100 WAN ports.

i assume by "compatablility mode to 100mbps" you mean hard coding the WAN speed of the router? have you tried hard coding to 100 on the modem side?

if you plug your 524 into a normal switch, does it work at 100mbps? the 524 is an older router, and has had reported wan port negotiation issues in the past...if all else fails, it may be time to ditch it.

Interesting. My father-in-law has a rev 1 DI-524 and it only has a 10mbps WAN port. I just did some searching online and it looks like the newer revisions do have 10/100 ports like the 604 and 624 routers. As jlazzaro said, take a look in the config pages for the modem and router to see if you can force them to 100mbps.

i cant set my modem to force 100. i have a wired 614 and it does connect to it at 100. i talked with dlink tech support and they tried to help me. eventually they called it faulty but of course i have no receipt so that wont happen.

im going to buy a 624. oh well guys, thanks for trying.
