dhtml fade that will work on mac browsers?

I wouldn't ordinarilly worry about this, except I'm disproportionatly surrounded by mac users. Anyway, the javascript-fade I grabbed to fade images for my site seems to work fine on all the pc versions of IE i've tested, but none of the mac-browsers seem to display anything. Also, opera seems to not display images at all. Is there a more compatible script or bit of dhtml I can use to achieve the same effect? I'd rather not but the thing in flash-
