DHL/USPS

I thought DHL was expanding their services, buying thousands of new trucks, going to new areas, all that good jazz. I've seen their little vans around, I've dealt with them before at work with overnight shipping.

Yet I get something shipped to me from Amazon via DHL @home, and they ship it to town, then hand it to the USPS to finish it off? Do they have a deal with the PO for this thing, or do they have to slap a postage sticker on it and remail it? What the hell is the point of them mailing me my package from across town, when I could just go pick it up, or they could drive it here and I could've had it today, rather than tomorrow or the day after?

DHL FTL.

DHL @home is what Airborne Home Delivery used to be.

It's really expensive for them to deliver to residential addresses, so they contract it out to the USPS to deliver.

Actually all carriers UPS, DHL etc, will have the USPS deliver packages that are not profitable for them. My mom has been a carrier for 22 years and sees the UPS truck drop packages off everyday at the PO.

I've never had a UPS/Fedex package delivered by USPS...ever. I've had hundreds of packages/letters shipped to me over the past few years too.

Ask your local postmaster.

There isn't a local DHL outlet, the nearest one is about an hour away in Topeka, yet they actually have a guy in a van deliver the packages instead of USPS.

There's a FedEx dropoff box thing right in front of the Post Office but they don't deliver and FedEx, or at least never have for me.

I feel sorry for the FedEx guy because our driveway is basically inaccessible with their trucks, so they have to park in the next lot. Of course the UPS guys just park partway up on the curb and out in the street, subsequently blocking a lane of traffic on a very busy street.

yeah that was really weird for me too. DHL said package was out for delivery, and it was like 9PM so I called them up and was like wow how late do you guys deliver and they told me they had delivered it to my local post office which would then be delivered to me.

Well, got it delivered today, and by that I mean the mailman left it out in the snow, without ringing the doorbell, or getting a signature. Despite the fact that the tracking info clearly showed that it needed a signature, it shows up as "NOT SIGNED".

Yay USPS, way to go.

Just an FYI

Well just a short time ago I found out DHL is trying, and uses practices for union busting. DHL actually hires full time people from 'temp" agencies. UPS and Fedex are union. DHL is not. If and when the DHL full time "temps" try to unionize, DHL simply changes to a different "temp" company hiring new "temps" and laying off current 'temps". DHL has changed temp agencies 3 times in order to union bust. And naturally, these full time "temps" work for min wage with NO benefits. DHL... does anyone really want to use them?
