I bought a phone online; being perhaps somewhat less careful than I should have been, it turns out that I bought from a Hong Kong retailer (The web site is very careful to hide this information deep in the small print of the T&C).
The phone was stated as in stock, and "usually delivered within 7 days". I thought that was a bit odd so I phoned them, and was assured by a guy that spoke decent english, that this was just an upper limit, not to worry, that the stock was genuine, blah, blah.
Anyway, it's been nearly 1 month, and the phone apparently shipped 10 days ago; they sent me an e-mail stating that the phone had shipped and to expect delivery in 2 days. However, if I enter the tracking number they've given into the DHL tracking system, it just says "Shipping information received", and that's the only entry on the tracking file.
I can't get through to the retailer to ask wtf is going on. However, to me, this suggests that a shipment has been booked with DHL, but that the package has not been given to DHL - it's just a data flow. Am I right about this? Are the retailer really so brazenly dishnoest as to claim they have shipped a package that they have not?
--
Rather worryingly, their customer service has since been the worst I have ever known; they don't reply to e-mails, and their customer service line is constantly queued (3 hours 13 minutes last time I phoned). They answer the sales line instantly, but if you ask for customer services, it's just "you need to call the customer service number. Click".
Thankfully, I paid by CC, so I've still got a chargeback as an option. However, the CC company have suggested as they didn't *guarantee* a delivery date, I should wait 30 days from the date of order before initiating a chargeback - which seems reasonable enough.

Cliffs:
1. Bought phone from shady dealer
2. Received shipping confirmation 10 days ago.
3. Item not received.
4. Tracking infromation says "Shipping information received".
