DHL and USPS connection????

How are DHL and USPS connected?

I have a package that is to be delivered via DHL. I looked online to track the package and noticed that it arrived at DHL @7:49am. Then went to the USPS @ 11:20am. This is the first time I have ever received something via DHL and I did not know they went through the post office to deliver stuff.
So would it go from the main PO downtown to my local PO to be delivered tomorrow? If that's the case I have to go to the PO today anyway and I was curious if I bring my tracking # and ID, can I get my package ?

DHL piggy-backs on USPS infrastructure for some packages. Makes sense because DHL isn't exactly a big-dog like UPS/FedEx who do everything on their own, for the most part.

Gotcha. You think there's a chance of picking it up at the PO????

Was this a package shipped within the Continental US?
I know that USPS uses DHL as a carrier for oversea shipments and maybe even FedEx too. Then the package goes to the countries local delivery carrier which is equivalent to USPS or gets delivered by DHL/FedEx.

DHL is a pretty big player in the parcel services industry. They are somthing like a 28 billion dollar a year company, they are just much more into Europe and Asia then the US.

As per the USPS, then yes if they handed it over to USPS then it should be treated as a normal package and could be picked up at the post office.

DHL@Home service delivers packages to your local post office, and then the post office makes the final delivery, thus meaning they can even be delivered on a Saturday or to a PO Box.

FYI, FedEx is behind some of the USPS Express Mail.

Interesting, I recently had a FedEx package do this with the PO, I didn't know DHL did this also.
