Hi there, here's the setup I have for my home network:
Origio ASR-8000 1 Port ADSL modem/router plugged into a
Linksys WRT54G 4 port wireless router
which controlls the wireless network. I'm having a few problems with the setup, however. For a start, they are both assigned as DHCP servers, so I understand that this could cause some problems. Ideally, I would like the modem (origio) to be very dumb and have no firewall, DHCP or anyhting and allow the router (Linksys) to do all the clever stuff like port forwarding.
Being realively new to home networking, could somebody please tell me what to do in order to disable all of these features within the modem? I currently can access the internet fine, and it mostly works seemlessly, but I am keen to have it set up properly and to learn some stuff about networking too!
I have been having some problems forwarding ports for programs directly to my computer on the network (such as teamspeak). I'm unsure if I should be forwarding them using the modem or the router as both have port forwarding/virtual server sections within the gui. Is it possible to have the modem forward everything onto the router and then have the router sort all the port forwarding, etc out?
Both have the latest firmware installed.
here's a link to the modem web page:
http://www.adsltech.co.uk/code/
and the router:

Any help would be very much appreciated,
Loic
