DH61WW 64bit Graphics Drivers

This is something I have struggled with for a while and havent found a solution to yet...

I have Intel DH61WW motherboard and I want to use 64Bit Win 7. But the problem is, it looks like there are no proper 64Bit graphics drivers for this board for Win 7. The one on the Intel Drivers Download does not install and fails during install.

I know for sure that many have the same problem everywhere and are looking for a solution.

Yeah same as the previous poster, the H61 motherboards derive their graphics from the CPU that's on the board, typically a Sandy Bridge processor (or Ivy Bridge with an appropriate firmware/microcode update!). This is one of the most commonly supported graphics configurations used today.

Shouldn't have to download anything from the Intel website. Just install it, and run Windows Update a few times until it eventually figures out and pulls the driver from Microsoft.

The GPU resides on the CPU. Many intel desktop boards were released without the proper VGA driver on the DVD companion. Why? Pretty much all the CPUs come with different GPUs. A lot of CPUs/GPUs where launched after the release of that particular desktop board , so there may be no driver on the motherboard's dvd companion disk for some gpus.

Installing the proper driver is actualy quite simple:
1. Identify your CPU model;
2. Go to intel ark and identify the model of the integrated GPU;
3. Download the driver from the intel website for that particular GPU;

For example,
For the i5-3570K http://ark.intel.com/products/65520, intel ark tells you that the GPU is named "Intel® HD Graphics 4000", then you go here http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support and download the proper driver for this GPU. 1. Select a product family << Graphics; 2. Select a product line << Desktop graphics drivers; 3. Select a product name << 3rd gen intel core processors with intel hd graphic 4000; ...

IIRC, its the same driver for all members of the "i915" family, which means all Sandy Bridge, Ivy Bridge, and Haswell-derived Intel HD graphics chipsets.

As I stated earlier, Windows 7 should pull the latest driver from Windows Update automatically along with the plethora of other updates Windows 7 demands.

Same deal on Linux, the universal i915 driver takes care of it all.

Did that, but the driver installation fails saying something like the OS or hardware is not suported. For lack of options, installed a 32bit version right now, will try installing a 64bit version and come back with the exact error I am getting

win 7 did install a version of the driver, but I was under the impression that the driver from the manufacturer, in this case Intel is the best? or atleast the best suited? ..isnt that the case?

Thanks for tying people, I guess it would be best if i come back with the exact error I am getting when i install the 64bit version.

If a 32-bit driver installs properly, then that's your problem. You're running a 32-bit OS version, and therefore, the 64-bit driver won't install.

I meant, I had earlier installed a 64bit OS, but for lack of options I had to go to 32Bit OS - probably i wasn't clear about that. Anyways will get back with the real error.

This wonderful comment works for me - I did search for i3-3220 then the supported graphics driver is there...
