EDIT - After some more troubleshooting I have determined that the problem is a pair of Corsair 1GB x2 667 sticks that I have. Once I removed them the board worked flawlessly. Odd that a new board has problems where the previous model did not with the same memory. Whatever. Looks like I have to buy new memory, thanks Intel!!
-----------------
This is an odd problem, and I have no explanation. My previous board was a D945PSNLK with a D820, everything worked peachy. This new board, the DG965WH is paired with a C2D 6300. It works all dandy... except:
It does not post on restart.
The hell? Yeah, that's right, it posts fine normally. All drives are recognized, the 2GB of memory is recognized. But after a BIOS update is installed, an OS is installed, or a HDD with an OS already installed calls for a reboot, the system shuts down, and then hangs. I thought maybe the new BIOS revision could fix the issue, first off it was a pain in the ass getting the BIOS to update because all of them try to install on the reboot, but this board won't post after reboot! So I finally settled on pulling the BIOS jumper and installing the .bio from a CD, and it worked. New BIOS didn't solve diddly.
This is a real pain.
And since I can't install an OS, I'm using another drive with Windows already installed. But it gives me random blue screen memory errors and instantly goes to reboot (and you know what happens next...nothing!) But I don't have enough time to read the blue screen.
Any ideas? I can't seem to find anything through google, it's as if I'm alone here. And something else: I actually had this same model board over a month ago, and it gave me the same problem. Figuring it was a defective board, I sent it back. My replacement is doing the same thing. I'm stumped.
I *would* buy a real board, but the sub $150 ones are garbage, and I'm saving for a better HDTV and a 2407WFP right now, so I can't spring on a new mobo unfortunately...
